As part of the effort to recover some of the old content of Mosaic Magazine, unfortunately, only the 2003 articles were accessible.
As I sit writing this column The States is poised waiting to go to war with Iraq amidst great debate from different countries and various groups across the world. Globally, people are enraged because their leaders are choosing to ignore their wishes; and the illusion that we, the people, have control is being shattered. The veil has been dropped and we now see leaders who have major power/ego issues making decisions that impact every corner of our lives.
Yet more importantly what we are seeing is KARMA – the result of past choice/actions. Our choices, the ones we made or didn’t make when it came time to elect the people to represent us. We are seeing the result of our apathy and uneducated choices. We are seeing the results of choosing to not run for office if we are politically inclined because we didn’t want to deal with the snakepit of politics. We are seeing the results of allowing ourselves to be bought off at elections time with some minor little hand-out to distract us from the bigger issues that come up in between elections. We are seeing the result of being swayed by marketing firms whose job is to take the person running for office and make sure they look good on t.v. A magic performance where real issues get swept away and the person who has the best t.v. presence wins as though we were voting in some high school prom king/queen rather than the people who will one day cast a vote that may affect our very life.
Our apathy has come back to haunt us.
Maybe we won’t be able to change this particular situation but if we can take this lesson and learn from it, and come the next election not allow ourselves to be razzle dazzled then just maybe we can begin to take back some of that power we’ve been giving away and change the face of our future. A most valuable lesson on the application of karma.
On an another note I’d like to thank Lahrinda whose series on the chakras has been on the last 7 covers of Mosaic. This issue features her crown chakra symbala. We look forward to showcasing more of her work in the future. Any of you who have not checked out her website www.creativehealth.com do so, you’ll be in for a treat.
Our next issue comes out August 1st until then have a magnificent spring/summer and may Mosaic continue to be part of your life.
